About Us
modified starches
PowerStarch modified starches have been designed on the basis of many years of experience, market demands and quality that the use of these starches brings. Experience and tracking of the trends that are increasingly stringent, modified starches gained vital importance in the production itself.
Benefits of using this starch range are multifold.
In addition to quality requested by customers, the minimum consumption per unit of product is obtained, and in particular some products can be used without cooking, which is another important benefit. These parameters are achieved by using state-of-the-art technology and know-how that are at the service of consumers.
PowerOX
Basic characteristics
It belongs to a group of modified starches. It looks like a fine white powder, odourless.
Benefits of using this starch range are multifold.
Analytical data
Ash content: max. 3%
pH value: 5.0–7.0
Brookfield viscosity: 40–60 mPas
Application options
It is most commonly used in the production of packaging paper and can also be used in the production of white paper (woodfree, roto, offset, drawing, etc.) to improve physical-mechanical properties. It is applied by means of coating aggregates (Leim, Size-presses or similar devices) at the working concentration of 2–8% at the temperature of about 50ºC Preparation of PowerOX is through cooking at 92ºC in an open cooker at the concentration of about 18% and then tempered at this temperature for 25 min. The effects of the PowerOX application are multifold and the basic are: – it improves stiffness (Bond test), CMT tear length, Denison test, flatness, gloss, printing properties, reduced dust, reduces double-sidedness. – does not affect the capacity of the machine.
PowerCAT
Basic characteristics
Belongs to a group of cationic starch, intended for the production of all kinds of paper and cardboard.
Analytical data
Water content: max. 14%
pH: 5.0–7.0
Substitution degree: 0.035–0.055 (at customer’s request)
Application options
PowerCAT serves to improve the physical and mechanical properties of all types of paper. In addition, it has good power of retention of fine fibres and fillers. Dosage is done in the paper mass by dosage pumps of 0.5–2.0% calculated on dry matter. The return water system should be as closed as possible. PowerCAT is prepared without cooking in cold or lukewarm water (about 35°C), with intensive mixing for about 15 minutes. It is then diluted to the working concentration.
PowerPLAST
Basic characteristics
PowerPLAST belongs to a group of thermally modified starches with additives intended for the production of construction materials.
Analytical data
Moisture content: max. 14%
Ash content: max. 3%
pH value (20% suspension): 5.0–7.0
Brookfield viscosity: 150–250 mPas
Application options
With its very good characteristics it has performed well in the production of all kinds of gypsum-cardboard boards. Its main purpose is to bind well the plaster mass with paper, without creating unevenness on the board, while creating very good plasticity properties. In addition, it has very good water absorption capability, which is one quality more. PowerPLAST input is below 10 gr/m². In addition, PowerPLAST can also be used as an additive in the production of all types of finishing mortars and accessories, because it has very good pastiness and water absorption capacity.
PowerFIX
Basic characteristics
PowerFIX is a ready-made polycomponent starch adhesive intended for the production of corrugated packaging. The form is a fine white powder, produced on the basis of the ordinary corn starch modification and corresponding additives.
Analytical data
Ash content: max. 10%
pH value: 11.0–12.0
Stein-Hall viscosity: 80–140 sec.
Gelling temperature: 55–68ºC
Application options
Depending on the technological parameters of the machine, the composition of the adhesive is adjusted according to the technological requirement so as to ensure good adhesion to the flute and laminating aggregate with optimal consumption of the adhesive. In the production of cardboard with “closed” paper surfaces (craft) it is recommended to use PowerFIX K which is adjusted for these purposes. Preparation of PowerFIX is with cold water of about 20ºC so that the glue preparation vessel must have a mixer at a speed of 1200–1400º/min. which will give good homogenization. The ratio between glue and water is from 1:3 to 1:4. Mixing time is about 20 minutes.
PowerGEL
Basic characteristics
Belongs to a group of pre-gelatinized corn starches. Obtained by special modification of corn starch through pressure and temperature. Fine grain powder, odourless, pale yellowish colour.
Analytical data
pH value: 4.0–7.0
Viscosity: 500–700 BJ (load 350 gr.conc. 50 gr./400 ml)
Application options
As a flocculant in the production of alumina, as a binding agent for briquetting and as an addition for oil or water wells. In wastewater treatment as a flocculation agent. It can also be used as a component in other products where binding a larger quantity of water is required (construction). PowerGEL can be classified as a biodegradable product, which gives it another advantage over other similar products.
PowerPULP
Basic characteristics
Belongs to a group of modified starches. It looks like a fine white powder, odourless.
Analytical data
Ash: max. 0.1%
pH value: 5.0–7.0
Brookfield viscosity: 35–60mPas
Application options
PowerPULP is used in the production of wrapping and packaging papers, as well as chromium and gray cardboard, produced on the basis of old paper. Its application and preparation are quite simple. PowerPULP is prepared by dissolving in cold or possibly lukewarm (up to 40ºC) water. Melting is easy and after that it is stirred for about 15–20 minutes. Preparatory concentration is about 10%, and working concentration ranges from 1.5–3.5%. The prepared solution is then dosed in the paper mass. The adding can also take the form of a powder that can be directly dispensed into the pulper. It is important that the return water system is as closed as possible. PowerPULP implementation effects are many and the basic are: – increases strength and resistance to punching – Mulen (10–20%) – improves stiffness and smoothness (CMT for 15–25%) – does not affect the capacity of the machine – completely biodegradable in nature
PowerSPRAY
Basic characteristics
Belongs to a group of modified starches intended for the production of multi-layered paper and cardboard.
Analytical data
Moisture content: max. 13%
Ash: max. 0.1%
pH value: 5.0–7.0
Brookfield viscosity: 50–80 mPas
Application options
PowerSPRAY is used in the production of multi-layered paper and cardboard (white-gray, gray-gray) through spraying. It improves the physical-mechanical properties of the paper and increases the firmness of the cardboard delamination. It is applied by spraying. To obtain the best application parameters, optimization is performed for each type separately. PowerSPRAY is prepared without cooking in cold water with stirring for about 15 minutes. For proper application it is important to achieve the temperature of 92°C in the first dry section (third cylinder).
